The YOU & I – Arts Café is a not for profit café which runs on a sustainability model. It opens from Monday to Saturday from 10.00 am to 06.00 pm. The café serve more than fifty different flavoured teas.
The café is a melting pot of ideas, informative exchange and social interaction which draws together different positive techniques from around the world to encourage growth and development, to understand one another and to discover more about oneself.
This place also hosts talks where resource persons and facilitators give presentations/activities to open up minds and inspire, especially focussing on the younger generation to further shape and mould their interests and most importantly in dreaming bigger.
Our humble cafe is also a home to many art pieces and crafts work which is for sale comingfrom different artists and craftsmen across Shillong.
The activities in the cafe include:
- Reading of cards for self reflection either as an individual or in small groups
- Making hand puppets, dolls and papier-mâché
- Participate in exercises, local games and acquire different techniques for learning
- Mind – Mapping workshop
- Screening of documentaries and Discussions/Seminars on informative topics once a month
- Weaving of dream catchers and creating one’s own dream connectors.
- Facilitate fun methods of journaling
- A hub for enhancement of skills where training programmes, workshops and retreats are conducted which cater to the curious young minds
- Along with the presence of a library, the café also gives liberty, where the youth can have fun preparing their own tea (both local and imported) and coffee, just like at home.
